WHO WE ARE

The WMEPC is affiliated with the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils (NAEPC). A well-respected professional resource in our local estate planning community since the mid-1970’s, one of our core values is that the team concept of estate planning best serves our clients. Everything we do builds upon this single principle. No two clients are alike, nor are their planning needs

As a result, our members are those professionals who must have a seat at the table to properly serve their clients. With that in mind, it is also a key value of the WMEPC to encourage and provide opportunities to build relationships through council membership and involvement. Our council members become life-long professional colleagues and, in many cases, life-long friends. These are all valuable connections that will ultimately benefit our community and clients.

OBJECTIVES

The WEMPC is dedicated to continuous improvement in collaboratively serving estate planning needs of clients throughout Western Michigan emphasizing the following core objectives:

  • To promote cooperative efforts in the field of estate planning among the professions and businesses represented by its members.
  • To assist members in keeping abreast of laws and other developments in the field of estate planning through meetings and the dissemination of information so as to continuously improve the estate planning services provided by its members.
  • To promote respect for, and understanding of, the relationships and functions in the field of estate planning of the professions and businesses represented by its members.

MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS

WMEPC members consist of persons who are interested in and actively practicing estate planning in the West Michigan region and who are actively practicing in one of the following areas: 

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Attorney
  • Trust Officer
  • Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU) BENEFITS
  • Certified Financial Planner®/Chartered Financial Planner® (CFP, ChFC)
  • Registered Investment Advisor (RIA)
  • Professional Trustee
